Monday, September 4 2023 - The final class for students in the Hotel Management program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang took place at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama. The purpose of this class was to provide insights into Business Analysis, which was presented by Rendy Eka, a Business Analysis expert from the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel.
In addition to the lecture material, students were also given group assignments involving business profit analysis. This task required them to make a presentation in front of an investor. The goal of this assignment was to develop the students' soft skills, such as negotiation, public speaking, strategic and critical thinking, as well as improving their business analysis skills.
Aside from being the final class, the event also marked the conclusion of a series of activities in the Center of Excellence Tourism and Hospitality under the Management program, specifically in the Hotel sector. This program had been running for 6 months and provided students with knowledge from two renowned hotels in Malang, namely Rayz Hotel UMM (four-star) and Grand Mercure Mirama Malang (five-star).
Rendy Eka, affectionately known as Rendy, expressed that students in the Hotel Management program were highly active and had unique perspectives. They were also fearless in expressing their opinions. Tazkia Khoirunnisa, one of the students, also shared her enthusiasm for the program. She mentioned that it gave them the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and to participate in the real world of work.
The Center of Excellence Tourism and Hospitality is one of the programs established by the Management program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang to create outstanding human resources and provide valuable opportunities for students to gain work experience after graduation. Next, students will prepare to participate in an internship program with companies that are partners of the Management program. During three months, they will further deepen the knowledge and skills they have acquired during this program.
Cemi, the Learning and Development Coordinator at Grand Mercure Malang Mirama, expressed hope that the knowledge provided to students would be beneficial for their career development and personal growth. He also encouraged students to apply the knowledge and experience they have gained in their future professional careers.
