Tuesday, June 06, 2023 - Tuesday, May 30, 2023 marked a memorable moment for the students of the Center of Excellence (CoE) Tourism and Hospitality in the field of hotel management at Rayz UMM Hotel. The final class was attended by Prof. Dr. Ignasius D. A Sutapa, M.Sc, Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Center of Echohydrology (APCE) – UNESCO C2C, along with Rayz UMM Hotel General Manager, Yanuar Arifien, and several related department heads.
On this occasion, one of the student representatives presented the results of the summary report analysis obtained during their training in various departments at Rayz UMM Hotel. The report covers the three-month implementation of the training and was directly addressed by the hotel's department heads. The results of the report analysis will serve as an assessment of the students' progress during the training and as preparation for their upcoming internships in August.
After the presentation, the students were given the opportunity to share their experiences during the training. Fauzan Lutfi, one of the students affectionately known as Yongpu, expressed his feelings, "After participating in all CoE activities for three months, I feel like I was forced to be humble. This is because all the knowledge I gained in the fifth semester of college is still minimal compared to the world of work." He added, "Attending college without hands-on experience is empty. So, in my opinion, the CoE program provides an extraordinary experience for my academic process at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang."
The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Ignasius D. A Sutapa, M.Sc, who appreciated Rayz UMM Hotel for facilitating students in gaining experience in the world of work. He also imparted meaningful advice to the CoE students in the field of hotel management, "Through this program, it is hoped that students can have more competent work experience and be able to adapt to the ecosystem and culture in the world of work, so they are ready to compete with millions of new graduates every year."
