Monday, July 10, 2023 - On Saturday, July 1st, 2023, students from the Hotel Center of Excellence (CoE) Program at Grand Mercure Malang Mirama attended a highly beneficial class. The class focused on the importance of communication in business and was presented by an influencer who is also a manager in the Marketing Communication Department at Grand Mercure Malang Mirama, Gledy Webyansyah.
With great enthusiasm, Kak Gledy, as she is affectionately called, delivered a presentation on the significance of communication for companies, especially in the hospitality sector. One of the main topics was social media branding, which not only emphasized video editing but also how talents or employees from the marketing communication department should deliver messages about the information available at Grand Mercure Malang Mirama hotel to be well-received by customers. This not only contributes to providing a new experience but also increases customer interest in staying at the hotel.
In addition to the business communication explanations, the students were given individual tasks to create promotional video content introducing the facilities of Grand Mercure Malang Mirama hotel. This task involved using audio recordings to apply verbal communication techniques. The CoE students were given freedom to be creative in making these promotional videos, resulting in various types of content created by students, from cinematic videos to vlogs and narrated videos.
In the final session, the CoE students were required to upload their video creations on their respective Instagram Stories. Additionally, representatives from the students were given the opportunity to present their work and explain the purpose and meaning behind the videos they created.
By inviting an influencer as a speaker, Grand Mercure Malang Mirama successfully optimized the communication skills of the CoE Hotel students and prepared them for success in the hospitality industry.
